An Act to revise passenger limits for holders of restricted minor's driving permits. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota: Section 1. That § 32-12-12.5 be AMENDED: 32-12-12.5. [DELETED: No ] [ADDED: A ] holder of a restricted minor's permit may [ADDED: not] operate a motor vehicle carrying any passenger other than a member of the driver's immediate family or members of the driver's household during the first six months of holding [DELETED: a restricted minor's] [ADDED: the] permit. After the first six months [ADDED: ,] the holder of [DELETED: a restricted minor's] [ADDED: the] permit [ADDED: , when operating a motor vehicle,] is limited to [DELETED: no more than] one passenger under the age of eighteen years who is not: (1) A member of the [DELETED: permit] holder's immediate family [ or (2) A [DELETED: person whose primary residence is the same household as the permit holder's] [ADDED: minor child for whom the holder is providing childcare] .
