89(2) HR 1 - Enrolled version - Bill Text H.R. No. 1 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., distinguished himself through his more than 15 years of dedicated servant leadership to the Texas Tech University System, first as president of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and then as chancellor of the Texas Tech University System; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mitchell provided tremendous guidance and support to the leadership teams of the five institutions of the Texas Tech University System, including Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Angelo State University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, and Midwestern State University; he helped to enhance the Texas Tech University System's profile, and he supported the shared missions of advancing higher education, health care, research, and community engagement; he also led the system's engagement with elected officials in Austin and with federal leaders in Washington, D.C., to further increase funding and support for strategic initiatives at each university; and WHEREAS, Under Dr. Mitchell's leadership, the Texas Tech University System consistently achieved systemwide records in enrollment, fundraising, and research expenditures, and it made a $19.2 billion statewide economic impact; moreover, the system experienced exponential growth, including the addition of two institutions, five schools, and numerous academic programs; the system has made a meaningful impact in the lives of people …
