89(2) HR 83 - Enrolled version - Bill Text H.R. No. 83 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Pearson Elementary School in Mission is marking its 70th anniversary with a celebration on September 6, 2025; and WHEREAS, One of the first five campuses established in the Mission Consolidated Independent School District, Pearson Elementary opened with 11 classrooms on September 6, 1955; the school is named for the late Lucille Pearson, a Mission High School graduate and education advocate whose tireless work left an indelible mark on the community; and WHEREAS, Today, principal Melissa E. Davis is at the helm of Pearson, which serves approximately 300 students in early education and kindergarten through fifth grade; under her able leadership, the school's faculty members have earned a reputation for fostering academic excellence while helping to close educational gaps and guiding the cognitive, social, emotional, and mental development of students; moreover, following its receipt of a Project Fit America grant from the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation, the campus launched a fitness program designed to inspire youth to lead active and healthy lifestyles; and WHEREAS, Standing as a reflection of Mission CISD's commitment to growth, innovation, and success, Pearson Elementary has long provided young Texans with a strong foundation on which to build, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing the school on this milestone …
