89(2) HR 163 - Enrolled version - Bill Text H.R. No. 163 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Juan in a Million is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2025, and this occasion offers a welcome opportunity to reflect on the history of this popular East Austin eatery; and WHEREAS, In 1980, Juan in a Million was established by Laredo natives Juan and Myrna Meza; although they were teachers by trade, the couple opened the business on East Cesar Chavez Street, and it has since gone on to delight generations of diners with its warm hospitality and Tex-Mex favorites, such as enchiladas, menudo, and huevos rancheros; breakfast is served all day, and patrons from across the Lone Star State have enjoyed the restaurant's signature dish, the famous Don Juan Taco; and WHEREAS, Known for his hearty handshake, Mr. Meza has greeted customers at the front door for years; today, Juan in a Million benefits from the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Meza's children, general manager Juan Meza Jr. and media relations manager Christina Kim; moreover, the restaurant contributes to the community through its annual Hole in Juan Golf Tournament, which fundraises for area students; and WHEREAS, Over the course of four and a half decades, Juan in a Million has gained a loyal following and has established itself as a local institution, and it is …
