A bill 34 TO BE ENTITLED 35 AN ACT 36 37 Relating to public employees; to amend Sections 16-22-6 38 and 36-1-4.4, Code of Alabama 1975; to prohibit salary 39 deductions from certain education employees for labor 40 organizations; to prohibit employee organizations and 41 professional associations from prohibiting or limiting any 42 state employee's ability to revoke his or her membership; and 43 to further provide for the procedures relating to salary 44 deductions, including termination of deductions, for all state 45 employees. 46.

A BILL 34 TO BE ENTITLED 35 AN ACT 36 37 Relating to public employees; to amend Sections 16-22-6 38 and 36-1-4.4, Code of Alabama 1975; to prohibit salary 39 deductions from certain education employees for labor 40 organizations; to prohibit employee organizations and 41 professional associations from prohibiting or limiting any 42 state employee's ability to revoke his or her membership; and 43 to further provide for the procedures relating to salary 44 deductions, including termination of deductions, for all state 45 employees. 46 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: 47 Section 1. Sections 16-22-6 and 36-1.4.4, Code of 48 Alabama 1975, are amended to read as follows: 49 "§16-22-6 50 (a) Each Except as provided in subsection (c), each 51 local board of education and certain postsecondary 52 institutions of higher education shall adopt policies or 53 regulations rules which will provide for deductions from 54 salaries of its employees or groups of employees whenever a 55 request is presented to the board or postsecondary institution 56 of higher education by the employees or groups.
