An Act, COMMENDING HOUSTON COUNTY SCHOOLS FOR IMPRESSIVE ACHIEVEMENTS. WHEREAS, the Alabama Legislature takes great pride in recognizing outstanding accomplishments by our state's public schools and public school educators; and WHEREAS, at the Alabama Council of Administrators of Special Education (ALA-CASE) spring conference held in Birmingham February 22-26, Houston County Schools employees brought home four awards; and WHEREAS, Dr. Misty Freeman was named Director of the Year, Margaret Valenza and Haden Brown received Teacher of the Year honors, and Sylvia Ketron was named Paraprofessional of the Year; and WHEREAS, in addition, the Houston County School District was recognized at the State Board of Education Meeting in February by the State Board, State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey, and Governor Kay Ivey for receiving the Top County System Performance Award; Houston County ranked first out of all 67 counties on its achievement scores for the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) summative test; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Houston County Schools bring great pride not only to the local community but to the entire State of Alabama; now therefore, Page but to the entire State of Alabama; now therefore, HJR207 Enrolled BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Houston County Schools is hereby commended and congratulated on its outstanding performance at the ALA-CASE spring conference, as well …
