An Act, COMMENDING THE WINTERBORO HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2026 ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 1A STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, commendations and congratulations are herein proudly extended to the Winterboro High School Girls Basketball Team on winning the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) 1A State Championship on March 5, 2026, at BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama; and WHEREAS, the Winterboro Bulldogs, through teamwork, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, defeated the Marion County Raiders 67-60, closing out the most historic year in the program's history; it was not only the first girls' state championship but also the first state basketball championship for any school in the Talladega County School System; and WHEREAS, the Bulldogs secured the Class 1A title thanks in large part to their "Special K" lineup: Class 1A State Tournament MVP Katelyn Brown scored 17 points in the finals and added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Kaleria Massingale and Kailynn Williams earned Class 1A All-Tournament honors with 13 and 15 points, respectively; Katelyn Jones added 10 points; and Kaniya Duncan had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds; and WHEREAS, the Winterboro High School Girls Basketball Program has been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Page Program has been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach HJR251 Enrolled …
