An Act, SJR___ COMMENDING THE SECTION BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE 2026 ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, the Alabama Legislature takes great pride in recognizing outstanding accomplishments by our state's students and athletes; and WHEREAS, the Section High School Lions achieved remarkable success by winning the 2026 Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) 2A Boys Basketball State Championship on March 6, 2026; the Lions defeated LaFayette 54-42 at Legacy Arena in Birmingham to claim the state title, a significant milestone for the team after advancing to the finals following a semifinal win earlier in the week; and WHEREAS, the Section Boys Basketball Team utilized six consecutive shots from the three-point line during the third period of the game, ultimately leading to a victory; Brodie Overdear led the point accumulation for the Lions with 17 points, with Jake Cloud and Luke Swinford scoring and 11 points respectively; and WHEREAS, the successful team is comprised of eighth-grader Ellis Wynn; freshman Britton Hancock; sophomore Jake Cloud; juniors Luke Swinford, Kam Tinker, Landon Vaughn, Bryce Hughes, and Manuel Mazzerri; and Page Landon Vaughn, Bryce Hughes, and Manuel Mazzerri; and SJR77 Enrolled seniors Brodie Overdear, Jackson Cooper, Tyler Green, Jackson LeRoy, Aiden Thomas, Aaron Thomas, and Cooper Williams; and WHEREAS, expert coaching and leadership are provided by Head Coach Derek …
