An Act, SJR___ HONORING SUE THOMPSON ON THE OCCASION OF THE UNVEILING OF HER PORTRAIT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA SCHOOL OF LAW. WHEREAS, it is with great privilege and highest commendation that we recognize Sue Thompson, a distinguished attorney and trailblazer in the legal profession, on the occasion of the unveiling of her portrait at The University of Alabama School of Law; and WHEREAS, Sue Thompson made history as the first Black woman admitted to and to graduate from The University of Alabama School of Law, earning her degree in 1974 during a time of significant change in Alabama and the nation; and WHEREAS, her groundbreaking achievement helped open doors for future generations of students and attorneys, marking an important milestone in the advancement of diversity and inclusion within the legal profession and higher education; and WHEREAS, following her graduation, Ms. Thompson became a founding member of one of the first Black law firms in Tuscaloosa, alongside Booker T. Forte, Jr., and retired Circuit Judge John H.
