AN ACT ENTITLED "An Act relating to virtual currency kiosks; relating to transactions involving virtual currency; and providing for an effective date." BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: * Section 1. AS 06.55 is amended by adding new sections to read: Article 1A. Virtual Currency Kiosks. Sec. 06.55.120. Virtual currency kiosk operator licensing and registration. (a) A virtual currency kiosk operator may not engage in a virtual currency kiosk transaction or hold itself out as being able to engage in virtual currency kiosk transactions with or on behalf of another person unless the virtual currency kiosk operator holds a money transmission license. (b) A virtual currency kiosk operator may not locate a virtual currency kiosk in the state unless the virtual currency kiosk operator registers with and obtains the prior approval of the department to operate the virtual currency kiosk in the location. The department may deny a request to locate a virtual currency kiosk, or may require HB0354a -1- HB New Text Underlined [DELETED TEXT BRACKETED] 34-LS1471\A additional safeguards, in a location that has documented high fraud patterns or repeated customer complaints. Sec. 06.55.125. Reporting.
