State of Arkansas 95th General Assembly Regular Session, 2025 HR 1010 By: Representative Pilkington HOUSE RESOLUTION TO RENAME THE GULF OF MEXICO THE "GULF OF AMERICA" AND TO REQUIRE ALL STATE AGENCIES TO USE THE TERM "GULF OF AMERICA" IN OFFICIAL COMMUNICATIONS. Subtitle TO RENAME THE GULF OF MEXICO THE "GULF OF AMERICA" AND TO REQUIRE ALL STATE AGENCIES TO USE THE TERM "GULF OF AMERICA" IN OFFICIAL COMMUNICATIONS. WHEREAS, the Gulf of Mexico is a vital body of water that supports economic, environmental, and cultural activities directly benefitting the United States, including the State of Arkansas; and WHEREAS, the Gulf of Mexico serves as an important hub for American energy production, trade, and tourism; and WHEREAS, the State of Arkansas has strong economic ties to industries relying on the Gulf of Mexico; and WHEREAS, renaming the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America" would reinforce the role it plays in supporting the prosperity and security of the United States; and WHEREAS, designating this body of water as the "Gulf of America" aligns with the patriotic values of the State of Arkansas and acknowledges the contributions of American industries, workers, and resources tied to the Gulf *LGL041* 01/21/2025 3:03:34 PM LGL041 HR1010 of Mexico; and WHEREAS, state agencies should reflect the "Gulf of America" terminology in all maps, documents, educational …
