Short, Yearick DELAWARE STATE SENATE 153rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 118 DESIGNATING OCTOBER 12, 2025, AS "NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE. WHEREAS, National Farmers Day is celebrated annually on October 12 to honor the hard work, dedication, and contributions of farmers across the United States; and WHEREAS, agriculture is a cornerstone of Delaware's economy, with over 2,150 farms operating on more than 520,000 acres of land, representing approximately 42% of the state's total land area; and WHEREAS, Delaware's agricultural industry generates approximately $2.1 billion in cash receipts annually, with broilers (chickens raised for meat) being the state's most valuable agricultural product, followed by corn, soybeans, and chicken eggs; and WHEREAS, Delaware's farmers are committed to sustainable practices, with 27% of the state's farmland enrolled in the Agricultural Lands Preservation Program, ensuring the long-term viability of agriculture in the state; and WHEREAS, Delaware leads the nation in preserving farmland, with 15% of its agricultural land permanently preserved, safeguarding the state's agricultural heritage for future generations; and WHEREAS, Delaware farmers are true environmental stewards of the land, implementing comprehensive nutrient management practices that safeguard soil health, enhance water …
