Hoffner, Mantzavinos, Pinkney, Wilson, Lockman, Sturgeon HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 153rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 140 COMMENDING THE WORK OF COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS IN DELAWARE AND DECLARING MAY 21, 2026, AS "COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF DELAWARE DAY." WHEREAS, Communities In Schools is one of the nation's foremost organizations dedicated to empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life, by creating and surrounding students and their families with a community of support; and WHEREAS, dropping out of school is a significant problem with implications reaching far beyond students and their families to the greater community ; and WHEREAS, failing to graduate from high school impacts outcomes across domains, including health, employment, economic well-being, and long-term reliance upon public assistance; and WHEREAS, Communities In Schools provides a researched-based comprehensive model and solutions to a variety of issues that place young people at risk of dropping out ; and WHEREAS, Communities In Schools also recognizes that students often need more than the best teachers or the most rigorous curriculum and standards in order to succeed--they need additional support that will reinforce the work of the world class educators in our schools; and WHEREAS, whether a student needs a mentor, …
