Johnson, Morrison, Postles, Shupe, Yearick DELAWARE STATE SENATE 153rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 220 DESIGNATING OCTOBER 12, 2026, AS "NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE. WHEREAS, National Farmers Day is celebrated annually on October 12 to honor the hard work, dedication, and contributions of farmers across the United States; and WHEREAS, agriculture is a cornerstone of Delaware's economy, with over 2,150 farms operating on more than 520,000 acres of land, representing approximately 42% of the state's total land area; and WHEREAS, Delaware's farmers are committed to sustainable practices, with 31% of the state's farmland enrolled in the Agricultural Lands Preservation Program, ensuring the long-term viability of agriculture in the state; and WHEREAS, Delaware farmers are true environmental stewards of the land, implementing comprehensive nutrient management practices that safeguard soil health, enhance water quality, and support sustainable agriculture moving forward; and WHEREAS, Delaware's agricultural industry generates approximately $1.8 billion in cash receipts annually, with poultry, the state's most valuable agricultural product, accounting for 73% of that figure, followed by corn, soybeans, and chicken eggs; and WHEREAS, Delaware's agricultural industry supports over 138,000 jobs, contributing approximately $24.6 billion to the state's economy through …
