A bill to be entitled An act relating to sexual assault education and support; providing a short title; amending s. 1001.42, F.S.; requiring school districts to appoint a districtwide sexual assault response liaison for specified purposes; requiring the Department of Health to administer specified training and materials for the liaisons; creating s. 1003.08, F.S.; establishing the Safe Students and Survivors Grant Program to be administered by the department; providing the purpose of the grant program; providing department, school district, charter school, and private school duties; authorizing the State Board of Education to adopt rules; amending s. 1003.42, F.S.; revising the required health instruction for students in grades through 12 to include instruction on sexual assault prevention and consent; providing requirements for the instruction; providing an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: Section 1.âThis act may be cited as the âSafe Students and Survivors Act.â Section 2.âParagraph (o) is added to subsection (4) of section 1001.42, Florida Statutes, to read: 1001.42âPowers and duties of district school board.âThe district school board, acting as a board, shall exercise all powers and perform all duties listed below: (4)âESTABLISHMENT, ORGANIZATION, AND OPERATION OF SCHOOLS.
