A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Malcolm Mitchell; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Malcolm Mitchell, a native of Valdosta, Georgia, is a former NFL player, Super Bowl champion, author, motivational speaker, literacy advocate, and the founder and CEO of the Share the Magic Foundation; and WHEREAS, an accomplished football player, Malcolm Mitchell was a wide receiver for the University of Georgia before going on to play in the NFL with the New England Patriots; and WHEREAS, while studying at the University of Georgia, he came to the difficult realization that he could not read proficiently; and WHEREAS, inspired by his personal challenges, Malcolm Mitchell founded the Share the Magic Foundation and launched the Read with Malcolm initiative to encourage children facing similar circumstances to embrace reading and discover the transformative power of literacy; and WHEREAS, the Share the Magic Foundation operates in-person and virtually across all states and in more than 17 countries worldwide; and H. R. 1555 LC 129 1325 WHEREAS, through his personal journey and the work of the Share the Magic Foundation, Malcolm Mitchell has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to empowering young readers; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary individual be appropriately honored.
