A RESOLUTION Recognizing Lieutenant Colonel Larry Buford Boggs and dedicating an intersection in his honor; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Larry Buford Boggs has deep roots in Carroll County, Georgia, as a graduate of Villa Rica High School, where he was a proud member of the school's varsity football team during a time when helmets had no face guard which resulted in a broken nose and the loss of two teeth; and WHEREAS, Lt. Col. Boggs earned his bachelor's degree from West Georgia College and shortly after was a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Marine Corps, serving in Virginia, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Cuba before retiring after 22 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; and WHEREAS, Lt. Col. Boggs began his professional career with United States Gypsum Corporation before founding Benchmark Homes and B&W Properties in 1971; and WHEREAS, under his leadership, more than 3,000 homes were built and commercial and industrial projects exceeding $750 million in value were developed, significantly strengthening the region's tax base and economic vitality; and H.
