A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Shephard Green III; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its distinguished citizens with the passing of Shephard Green III; and WHEREAS, born to Shephard Green Jr. and Carrie Mae Green, Shephard Green III attended C.L. Harper High School, where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1969, distinguished himself as a star athlete, and developed a lifelong love for football; and WHEREAS, his professional career began in the financial sector at Nations Bank, after which he devoted his life's work to education and coaching, becoming widely known as "Coach Green" at Clairmont Elementary School in Decatur, Georgia; and WHEREAS, through his work as a coach in football, basketball, and baseball across Amateur Athletic Union programs, recreational leagues, and Decatur High School, he mentored countless young people and served as a positive influence in their lives; and H. R. 1902 LC 112 4069 WHEREAS, following his retirement from the school system in 2014, he served as an assistant doorkeeper for the Georgia State Senate, contributing to the daily operations of the state capitol and fostering meaningful relationships with those he encountered; and WHEREAS, he was blessed with five remarkable children, Sheprease, Aqueelah, Shephard IV, Zarinah, and Sakari, as well as seven wonderful …
