A RESOLUTION Recognizing the excellence of Morehouse College Athletics and honoring the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship teams; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Morehouse College has long stood as a pillar of academic excellence, leadership, and the holistic development of young Black men; and WHEREAS, the Morehouse College Athletics Department continues to embody the institution's mission by cultivating discipline, integrity, and competitive excellence among its student-athletes; and WHEREAS, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) represents one of the most historic and competitive athletic conferences among HBCUs; and WHEREAS, during the most recent athletic season, the Morehouse College mens basketball team demonstrated exceptional skill, resilience, and teamwork, culminating in a conference championship victory and bringing honor to the institution; and H. R. 1953 LC 129 1507 WHEREAS, the Morehouse College track and field team showcased outstanding athleticism and dedication, achieving championship distinction within the SIAC and continuing a proud tradition of excellence in track and field; and WHEREAS, these achievements reflect not only athletic success but also the discipline, scholarship, and character instilled in Morehouse men; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these teams serve as a source of pride and inspiration for the campus community, alumni network, and the broader Atlanta community.
