A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the 2026 Heart of Community Board of Governors Award recipients Rick and Sundai Stevenson; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Rick and Sundai Stevenson are compassionate people who are motivated by faith, grounded in love for people, and serve with their whole hearts; and WHEREAS, Rick's strength as a communicator, collaborator, and bridge-builder was evident as he helped lead the 2017 Education SPLOST effort, speaking with clarity in the face of complexity, easing tensions, and offering hope--he serves on multiple boards, reflecting a lifetime of commitment to community growth, youth mentorship, and cultural enrichment; and WHEREAS, Sundai has served on the Rome City Commission and became the city's first Black female mayor, and her work with the MLK Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, local nonprofits, and her church highlights a life of service; and WHEREAS, together, Rick and Sundai form a team whose impact reaches far beyond titles or positions, and their influence can be felt in the lives of the families they have supported and the collaborations they have built; and H.
