HR1032LRB104 23308 LAW 39781 r HR1032 LRB104 23308 LAW 39781 r HR1032 LRB104 23308 LAW 39781 r HOUSE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis on the occasion of its 175th anniversary; and WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis was established when German Catholic immigrants settled in the Teutopolis area and constructed a brick church in the early 19th century; and WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis, known as St. Peter's Church at the time, welcomed Franciscan priests from Germany into the community in 1858; these priests helped create their monastery and the St. Joseph's College for the education of the youth of Teutopolis; and WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis has undergone many renovations throughout the years, including major renovations in 1901, 1950, and 1969; and WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis contains incredible architecture, altars, and stained-glass windows depicting the life of St. Francis; and HR1032- 2 -LRB104 23308 LAW 39781 r HR1032 - 2 - LRB104 23308 LAW 39781 r HR1032 - 2 - LRB104 23308 LAW 39781 r WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis will continue to be a key contributor to Teutopolis as it continues its mission of spreading faith; therefore, be …
