HR1043LRB104 23354 RMO 39827 r HR1043 LRB104 23354 RMO 39827 r HR1043 LRB104 23354 RMO 39827 r HOUSE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Woodrow "Woodie" Wallace on the occasion of his 100th birthday; and WHEREAS, Woodrow Wallace, named after President Woodrow Wilson, was born to Herman and Ida (Siverly) Wallace in Clark County on March 27, 1926; he received an eighth-grade education before being drafted into the United States Army in 1944 at the age of 18; and WHEREAS, Woodrow Wallace served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was an anti-aircraft gunner for General George S. Patton's Third Army in the Western Front of the European Theater, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and was scheduled to transfer to the Pacific Theater when the war ended; and WHEREAS, Woodrow Wallace returned to Clark County following his military service and worked in a variety of jobs, including for the railroad, Velsicol Chemical Plant in Marshall, an oil field in Casey, and Thompson Ramo Wooldridge (TRW) Inc., now known as ZF TRW Automotive Holdings Corp.; and WHEREAS, Woodrow Wallace married Nellie Bartley in 1948, HR1043- 2 -LRB104 23354 RMO 39827 r HR1043 - 2 - LRB104 23354 RMO 39827 r HR1043 - 2 - LRB104 23354 RMO 39827 …
