HR1063LRB104 23630 ECR 40126 r HR1063 LRB104 23630 ECR 40126 r HR1063 LRB104 23630 ECR 40126 r HOUSE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Geoffrey S. Porter on the occasion of his 80th birthday on October 16, 2026; and WHEREAS, Geoffrey Porter was born to Jesse and Greta Porter on October 16, 1946; he attended St. James Catholic School and Williams Elementary School, and he graduated from Dunbar High School; he attended Wilson Junior College, where he was named a Junior College All-American in basketball, and then Yankton College on a full basketball scholarship; and WHEREAS, Geoffrey Porter served as a teacher for 37 years, and he continues to work as a monitor in driver's education; he also served as the assistant basketball coach at Kennedy-King College; during his tenure as a coach and a teacher, he impacted hundreds of students' lives; and WHEREAS, Geoffrey Porter and his wife, Betty, have been members of Merrill/Compassion Baptist Church for over years, where he served as a trustee for 12 years and currently as a deacon for 19 years; he and his family have served on various church ministries, committees, boards, organizations, and associations over the years; and HR1063- 2 -LRB104 23630 ECR 40126 r HR1063 - 2 - LRB104 23630 ECR 40126 r HR1063 …
