A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning human services and to make an appropriation. SECTION 1. IC 12-7-2-28.2, AS AMENDED BY P.L.145-2006, SECTION 38, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 28.2. "Child care", for purposes of IC 12-17-20 and IC 12-17.2, means a service that provides for the care, health, safety, and supervision of a child's social, emotional, and educational growth. SECTION 2. IC 12-7-2-29.1 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 29.1. "Child care provider", for purposes of IC 12-17-20, means a person and (2) either: (A) meets the standards of quality recognized by a Level or Level 4 paths to QUALITY program rating under IC 12-17.2-2-14.2; or (B) has a comparable rating from a nationally recognized accrediting body. 2026 IN 1401--LS 6779/DI SECTION 3. IC 12-7-2-42 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 42. (a) "Contribution", for purposes of IC 12-17-12, has the meaning set forth in IC 12-17-12-2. (b) "Contribution", for purposes of IC 12-17-20, means a payment to a child care provider or (2) indirectly through a third party vendor; to subsidize an employee's eligible child care costs.
