Whereas, Indiana University quarterback Fernando Mendoza was awarded the 91st Heisman Trophy on December 13, 2025, becoming Indiana University's first player to win the prestigious award; Whereas, Fernando Mendoza was an easy pick for the trophy, finishing first in all six voting regions after leading the Hoosiers to a 2025 Big Ten Championship win over Ohio State University; Whereas, Fernando Mendoza completed 273 of 379 passes, a 72 percent pass completion rate, for 3,535 yards, touchdowns, and six interceptions while rushing for 276 yards and seven touchdowns on the season; Whereas, After leading Indiana University to a College Football Playoff National Championship win, Fernando Mendoza became one of only 18 players in college football history to win both the Heisman Trophy and the national championship in the same season; Whereas, Due to his success on the field, Fernando Mendoza is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft; Whereas, Fernando Mendoza earned the Heisman Trophy through his dedication and determination as the best in the sport, while never failing …
