Mayfield, Heaton, Hall, Pierce M _______________________, read first time and referred to Committee on 2026 HC 1018/DI Introduced Second Regular Session of the 124th General Assembly (2026) HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. ____ A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Don Fischer. Whereas, Known as the "Voice of the Hoosiers", Don Fischer has been the play-by-play voice of Indiana University men's basketball and football since 1973, when he was 26 years old; Whereas, During that time, he's called more than 2,000 games, five NCAA basketball Final Fours, four NCAA basketball championship games, two NIT championship games, and 12 bowl contests, serving as the voice that IU fans trust for over 50 years; Whereas, Don Fischer is one of the most respected and highly decorated play-by-play announcers in all of college sports. During his years of work in Indiana, Fischer has been named the state's Sportscaster of the Year 32 times by two different organizations. The National Sports Media Association has honored him 28 times while the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association has named him their honoree four times, and in 2022, he was awarded the prestigious National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's Chris Schenkel Award.
