POL , read first time and referred to Committee on 2026 DR 3842/DI ol Introduced Second Regular Session 124th General Assembly (2026) SENATE RESOLUTION ____ MR. PRESIDENT: I offer the following resolution and move its adoption: A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Samuelson Insurance Agency. Whereas, Samuelson Insurance Agency was founded in 1926 by William Samuelson, who passed away in 1953; Whereas, After William's death, the business was run first by William's wife, Esther Samuelson, and daughter, Evelyn Hamstrom, then by William's son-in-law, Charles Lorenz, and eventually by Charles' son, Kenneth Lorenz; Whereas, The agency is now run by James Hazzard, who joined in 2010, assumed day-to-day leadership a few years later, and fully acquired the agency from Charles Lorenz in 2019; Whereas, The business operated out of the family home in Portage until 1978, when the current Portage office was built and what began as a small family operation has grown into a multi-location independent agency serving Northwest Indiana for a full century; 2026 DR 3842/DI ol Whereas, Charles is a disabled veteran who speaks at local high schools about service, leadership, overcoming setbacks, and pathways after graduation.
