A BILL FOR An Act relating to the establishment of satellite absentee voting stations on school property. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 2131YH (2) ss/ns H.F. Section 1. Section 53.11, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code 2025, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. (5) The site requested is on school property and a question to approve a bond, an instructional support program, an educational improvement program, a physical plant and equipment levy, or public education and recreation levy issued by any school appears on the ballot to be voted at that election. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill requires a county commissioner of elections to reject an otherwise valid petition to establish a satellite absentee voting station if the site requested is on school property and a question to approve a bond, an instructional support program, an educational improvement program, a physical plant and equipment levy, or public education and recreation levy issued by any school appears on the ballot to be voted at that election.
