A BILL FOR An Act relating to school safety, including grant programs, attendance center standards, and emergency planning, and making appropriations. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 1839YH (2) jda/jh H.F. Section 1. NEW SECTION. 256.20 Attendance center doors ---- grant program ---- fund established. 1. If moneys are appropriated by the general assembly for a fiscal year for purposes of this section, the department shall establish an attendance center doors grant program to provide grants to applicant school districts, accredited nonpublic schools, charter schools, and innovation zone schools to allow such schools to purchase doors that comply with the requirements established under section 280.37, subsection 1, paragraph "c" or "d". 2. The state board of education shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to administer the attendance center doors grant program. The rules adopted by the state board of education must establish an application process, application materials, eligibility requirements, and award criteria. 3. An attendance center doors grant program fund is established in the state treasury under the control of the department. The fund shall be administered by the department and shall consist of moneys appropriated by the general assembly and other moneys received by the department for deposits in the fund.
