A BILL FOR An Act relating to county hospital operation of a child care facility. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 2674XS (2) dg/ko S.F. Section 1. Section 347.14, Code 2025, is amended by adding the following new subsection: NEW SUBSECTION. 7A. Operate a child care facility established under section 347.27 in conjunction with the hospital. The board of trustees may contract with a person licensed to operate a child care facility under chapter 237A to operate the hospital's child care facility. Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 347.27 County hospital child care facility. A county hospital may establish a child care facility as defined in section 237A.1. The operation, maintenance, and improvement of a child care facility established by a county hospital shall comply with the requirements of chapter 237A. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill permits a county hospital (hospital) to establish a child care facility (facility). A hospital's board of trustees may operate the facility, or the board of trustees may contract with a person licensed to operate a facility to operate the hospital's facility. The operation, maintenance, and improvement of a hospital's facility must comply with the requirements of Code chapter 237A (child care …
