A BILL FOR An Act relating to the election of county central committee officers. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 1548XS (2) ss/ns S.F. Section 1. Section 43.101, Code 2025, is amended to read as follows: 43.101 County central committee officers. The county central committee shall elect a chair, co-chair, secretary, treasurer, and other officers as it may determine. The term of office of an officer begins at the time specified by the party's state constitution or bylaws and continues for two years and until the officer's successor is elected and qualified, unless the officer dies, resigns, or is sooner removed by the county central committee for inattention to duty or incompetency, but in any event an officer shall not serve a term of longer than two years. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill prohibits an officer of a county central committee from serving a term of longer than two years. Under current law, an officer's term continues for two years and until a successor is elected and qualified. LSB 1548XS (2) -1- ss/ns 1/1
