A BILL FOR An Act relating to the ability of persons to examine the public records of school districts. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 5296XS (2) jda/jh S.F. 2160 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 279.89 Examination of public records ---- enforcement. The board of directors of a school district shall comply with all applicable provisions of chapter 22. If the board of directors of a school district fails to comply with any applicable provision of chapter 22, a person aggrieved by the board of directors' failure may enforce the person's rights under chapter 22 pursuant to the provisions of chapter 22, including sections 22.5 and 22.10. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill relates to the ability of persons to examine the public records of school districts. The bill requires the board of directors of a school district to comply with all applicable provisions of Code chapter (examination of public records). If the board of directors of a school district fails to comply with Code chapter 22, a person aggrieved by the board of directors' failure may enforce the person's rights pursuant to Code chapter 22, which includes the ability to seek a writ of mandamus or …
