A BILL FOR An Act establishing a graduation requirement for instruction related to food nutrition and preparation. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 6755XS (3) jda/jh S.F. 2253 Section 1. Section 256E.7, subsection 2, Code 2026, is amended by adding the following new paragraph: NEW PARAGRAPH. 0t. Be subject to and comply with the requirements of section 280.9C relating to implementing a graduation requirement requiring completion of a course related to food nutrition and preparation in the same manner as a school district. Sec. 2. Section 256F.4, subsection 2, Code 2026, is amended by adding the following new paragraph: NEW PARAGRAPH. v. Be subject to and comply with the requirements of section 280.9C relating to implementing a graduation requirement requiring completion of a course related to food nutrition and preparation in the same manner as a school district. Sec. 3. NEW SECTION. 280.9C Food nutrition and preparation ---- graduation requirement. The board of directors of each school district and the authorities in charge of each accredited nonpublic school shall require that all students, beginning with students in the 2030-2031 graduating class, in grades nine through twelve complete, as a condition of graduation, one-half unit of instruction related to food nutrition and preparation.
