A BILL FOR An Act relating to city regulation of short-term rental properties. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 6132XS (2) ms/js S.F. 2309 Section 1. Section 414.1, subsection 1, paragraph e, Code 2026, is amended by striking the paragraph. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill relates to city regulation of short-term rental properties. Under current law, a city shall not adopt or enforce any regulation, restriction, or other ordinance, including a conditional use permit requirement, relating to short-term rental properties within the city. A city also shall not require a license or permit fee for a short-term rental property in the city. The bill strikes these prohibitions. The bill does not strike similar prohibitions on counties (Code section 331.301(18)). LSB 6132XS (2) -1- ms/js 1/1
