A Resolution commemorating St. Patrick's Day and the 28th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement between most political parties in Northern Ireland and the British and Irish governments. WHEREAS, the annual celebration of the Feast of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, falls on March each year, and Irish Americans join all people of all ethnic backgrounds who, for one day, become Irish and celebrate St. Patrick and the love of Ireland; and WHEREAS, all who wear the green on St. Patrick's Day live for a day in the spirit of St. Patrick, St. Brigid, and St. Colmcille, the national saints of Ireland; and WHEREAS, Irish immigrants to the United States helped form the cultural foundation of the nation and those of Irish lineage today proudly claim support for Ireland; and WHEREAS, the Good Friday Agreement acknowledges the right of differing political traditions to pursue either remaining part of the United Kingdom or supporting Irish unity; and WHEREAS, the Good Friday Agreement demonstrated democratic and peaceful means of resolving differences; and WHEREAS, members of both political parties in the United States came together to support the Good Friday Agreement; and WHEREAS, we celebrate the establishment of the LSB 6880HH (2) -1- sc/jm 1/2 H.R.
