A Resolution recognizing and honoring the Animal Rescue League of Iowa on its centennial anniversary. WHEREAS, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa is celebrating the 100th anniversary of their founding in 1926; and WHEREAS, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa is the largest nonprofit animal shelter in Iowa, with the mission to protect the welfare of animals, preserve the human-animal bond, and prevent the overpopulation of companion animals; and WHEREAS, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa cares for more than 13,000 companion animals, from hamsters to horses, from across the state each year, and in 2025 returned 1,776 pets to their owners and placed a record 9,244 pets with new families; and WHEREAS, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa offers a full range of programs including low-cost veterinary services, pet behavior training, responsible pet ownership education, and pet food pantries, along with many other programs, all designed to help animals stay with the families who love and care for them; and WHEREAS, the city of Des Moines and other central Iowa cities and counties have partnered with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa to provide animal services for their residents since 2005; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate recognizes and honors the Animal Rescue League of Iowa for a century of service changing lives of …
