A BILL FOR An Act relating to the regulation of tanning facilities, and making penalties applicable. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 2010YH (1) ss/ns H.F. Section 1. NEW SECTION. 136D.3A Minors' use of tanning devices prohibited. A tanning facility shall not allow a person under eighteen years of age to use a tanning device. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill prohibits a tanning facility from allowing a person under 18 years of age to use a tanning device. By operation of law, a person who violates the bill is subject to enforcement actions by the department of inspections, appeals, and licensing, including a civil penalty not to exceed $1,000 and an injunction restraining any violation.
