A BILL FOR An Act relating to subscription cancellation requirements for newspapers designated for official publication, and including effective date provisions. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 2261XS (3) ss/jh S.F. Section 1. Section 618.3, Code 2025, is amended by adding the following new subsection: NEW SUBSECTION. 5. Complies with the requirements of C.F.R. pt. 425. Sec. 2. CODE EDITOR DIRECTIVE. Upon the effective date of 2024 Iowa Acts, chapter 1019, section 2, the Code editor shall renumber Code section 618.3, subsection 5, as enacted by this Act, as Code section 618.3, subsection 1, paragraph "h". Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. EXPLANATION The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. This bill requires a newspaper to comply with the requirements of 16 C.F.R. pt. 425, relating to the cancellation of subscriptions, in order to be designated as a newspaper for the official publication of public notices. The bill takes effect upon enactment. The bill directs the Code editor to renumber the subsection enacted in the bill in conformity with 2024 Iowa Acts, chapter 1019, section 2, upon the effective date of that section of that Act.
