A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory Val A. "Bud" Lederer. WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer, was born on May 29, 1937, in Dayton, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Mildred Lederer; and WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer served our country for six years in the United States Navy on the USS Ticonderoga and the USS Casa Grande; and WHEREAS, in 1958, Val A. "Bud" Lederer became a dedicated member of the Alexandria Fire Department where he served for 65 years; and WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer demonstrated his leadership abilities, and he was quickly recognized and awarded the rank of Lieutenant in charge of EMS, Captain, and Assistant Chief before his election as Fire Chief in 1974, a role in which he served for 18 years; and WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer continued to show a commitment to the firefighting community by membership on numerous committees and subsequent chairmanship within the Kentucky Firefighters Association. He was appointed as the first Kentucky Firefighters Association's Director representing the Northern Kentucky Region in 1993, helping and inspiring generations of firefighters for the next 22 years; and WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer was a loving husband to his wife, Wanda Lederer, and they celebrated 59 years of wedded bliss. He and Wanda were the parents of a cherished daughter, Robbin …
