A RESOLUTION honoring police officer Nick Wilt on the occasion of his retirement from Louisville Metro Police Department. WHEREAS, Nick Wilt's service to the Louisville Metro Police Department began on March 21, 2023; and WHEREAS, Nick Wilt was honored for his retirement in January 2026 after a brief but exceptional career with the Louisville Metro Police Department; and WHEREAS, Nick Wilt, is best remembered for his bravery by being one of the first officers to respond to the Old National Bank shooting on April 10, 2023; which left people dead and eight injured; and WHEREAS, only 10 days out of the training academy, Nick Wilt was severely wounded during that incident and was forced to embark on an extended recovery and rehabilitation journey; and WHEREAS, Nick Wilt's heroic actions during the Old National Bank shooting, saved many lives and left a lasting impression of what it means to be a hero; and WHEREAS, in presenting Nick Wilt with an award for his service, Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey stated, "You represent the best of what we are. I don't know what kind of cop you were going to be, but I know what kind of man you are"; and WHEREAS, in giving Nick Wilt a key to the city, Mayor Craig Greenberg said, "That day here in Louisville, Kentucky, …
