A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of William "Turkey" Thomason. WHEREAS, William "Turkey" Thomason was born on October 22, 1941, in Duff, Kentucky, to the late Albert H. and Emily Louise Burnett Thomason; and WHEREAS, William "Turkey" Thomason proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying honor and dedication; and WHEREAS, William "Turkey" Thomason dedicated his life to public service, serving 36 years as a member of the Leitchfield City Council, during which time he missed only one meeting, a testament to his unwavering commitment; and WHEREAS, William "Turkey" Thomason was appointed Mayor of Leitchfield on April 3, 1995, and stayed in office until December 31, 2018. During the 1995 campaign he declared, "Hard work, dedication and community service have always been an integral part of my life. I will always do what is best for the citizens of Leitchfield," a promise he honored throughout his tenure; and WHEREAS, William "Turkey" Thomason is remembered for his profound service and lasting impact, and those who worked alongside him affirm that his influence will be felt for generations to come and express deep gratitude for his role in helping the community grow and thrive; and WHEREAS, William "Turkey" Thomason served for 60 years as an agency manager for the Grayson County office …
