A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Private Andrew Kuracka Memorial Highway in Letcher County. WHEREAS, Andrew Kuracka, the son of the late Anna and Metry Kuracka, was born in Perry County, Kentucky, and was reared in the Letcher County community of Hot Spot, which is now known as Premium; and WHEREAS, Andrew Kuracka, the youngest of nine children, attended Whitesburg High School before joining the United States Army in 1961; and WHEREAS, after leaving the Army, Andrew Kuracka and his family eventually moved to Slidell, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Andrew Kuracka was a truck driver and proud member of the Teamsters Union, and he retired from CF Trucking Company in 2000; and WHEREAS, Andrew Kuracka, passed away at his home in Slidell on August 7, 2022, at the age of 80; and WHEREAS, Andrew Kuracka was survived by his wife of 61 years, Macile Hammonds Kuracka; two daughters, Andrea Kuracka and Camilla Kuracka; a son, Travis Kuracka, five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, in 2023, the Letcher County Fiscal Court adopted a Resolution endorsing the designation of a portion of Kentucky Route 160 in Letcher County, near Premium, in honor of Andrew Kuracka; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1.
