A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Tucker Daniel Memorial Highway in Johnson County. WHEREAS, Roger T. "Tucker" Daniel was born on August 30, 1939, to the late Frances Colvin Short and Carl Daniel in Thealka, Kentucky; and WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel graduated with honors from Meade Memorial High School in Williamsport, Kentucky, in 1957; and WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel started his career with Kentucky West Virginia Gas in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, as an entry-level meter reader, and steadily rose in the ranks until he was appointed president in 1990, a position he held until his retirement in 1996; and WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel was elected to the office of Johnson County judge/executive in 1998, and was reelected three times until he retired from the position in 2018; and WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel took great pride in his position as judge/executive and always tried to put his community first, as evidenced by his solving the county's crippling deficit and credit crisis in the first two years of his first term; and WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel's experience in the private sector, networking with state officials to pass a pooling ordinance fee, and lobbying state and federal agencies to improve the quality of life in Johnson County, showed immediate results; and WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel also obtained additional funding for volunteer fire departments in the county, brought drastic improvements to water …
