A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. Memorial Highway in Perry County. WHEREAS, SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. was born on February 21, 1946, to the late John D. Spencer and Letha Oliver Spencer; and WHEREAS, SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage, dedication, and patriotism in defense of the freedoms enjoyed by all citizens; and WHEREAS, while serving his country, SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. was awarded the Bronze Star and numerous other Army achievement medals; and WHEREAS, SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. was a retired surface coal miner who loved his job; and WHEREAS, SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. was a very humble and kind man who was always full of life and never met a stranger; and WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the legacy and service of SSgt John "Pott" Spencer, Jr. should be tangibly recognized as a tribute to his military service, and as a reminder to future generations of the sacrifices made by those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1.
