A RESOLUTION recognizing April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kentucky. WHEREAS, the mission of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, in collaboration with their partners, is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Kentucky's children through advocacy, awareness, education, and training; and WHEREAS, there are more than 340 Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky partners throughout the Commonwealth, with at least two partners in each of Kentucky's counties; and WHEREAS, April has historically been declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by presidential and gubernatorial proclamations; and WHEREAS, to ensure our children and families are supported and our communities thrive, we must demonstrate our commitment to spreading awareness of child abuse prevention within our own spheres of influence; and WHEREAS, Wear Blue Day will be observed on April 1, 2026; and WHEREAS, each member of the General Assembly is encouraged to wear blue on April 1, 2026 to draw attention to the role each of us plays in the prevention of child abuse and neglect; and WHEREAS, the blue and silver pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention; and WHEREAS, there will be more than 3,000 blue and silver pinwheels planted on the grounds of the Kentucky State Capitol to honor the children of the Commonwealth and recognize April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kentucky; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved …
