A RESOLUTION To commend Clancy DuBos on the occasion of his retirement after five decades in journalism. WHEREAS, Clancy DuBos is the former owner and current political editor of Gambit, a New Orleans-based free alternative weekly newspaper; he forged an incredibly influential career spanning five decades in New Orleans journalism and retires as an institution of the Crescent City's media and politics; and WHEREAS, Clancy was born and raised in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1972; he earned a bachelor of arts in history from the University of New Orleans in 1976 and completed a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1993; and WHEREAS, Clancy began his career in journalism in 1973 as an eighteen-year-old intern at The Times Picayune, where he covered some of the year's biggest stories, including The UpStairs Lounge fire and an election that brought sweeping changes to the city's court officials and saw the rise of Harry Connick as district attorney; and WHEREAS, Mr. DuBos established himself as a fair and honest journalist, and his strong sense of integrity has earned deep trust among political sources; throughout his extensive career, he has written columns criticizing New Orleans mayors and Louisiana governors for their controversies but also praising them for their …
