A RESOLUTION To commend Representative Candace N. Newell on being named the Humanitarian of the Year by Winners of the World Magazine and the WOW Women of Worth Collective. WHEREAS, a native of New Orleans, Representative Newell attended Southern University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in criminology, and a law degree; and WHEREAS, Representative Newell represents House District 99 and was sworn into office on January 13, 2020; and WHEREAS, in July of 2026, Representative Newell is being named Humanitarian of the Year by Winners of the World Magazine and the WOW Women of Worth Collective; and WHEREAS, this award is being given to Representative Newell in New Orleans at the WOW Leadership Brunch and Community Recognition Event in recognition of her leadership and service to the citizens and communities of the Crescent City. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Representative Candace N. Newell on being named the Humanitarian of the Year by Winners of the World Magazine and the WOW Women of Worth Collective and does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued success in her future endeavors.
