A resolution to declare December 15-19, 2025, as Air National Guard Historical Association Week in the state of Michigan. Whereas, Air Guard Historical Association Week provides an opportunity to recognize the organizations that exist throughout the state in order to preserve the history of the Guard; and Whereas, Michiganâs Air Guard Historical Association was established in 1975 with the mission of preserving, interpreting, and celebrating Michiganâs military aviation heritage and the service of Michigan Air National Guard members. This year, they celebrate their 50th anniversary; and Whereas, The Associationâs founding vision directly led to the creation of the Selfridge Military Air Museum, an institution dedicated to safeguarding Michiganâs proud aviation legacy, honoring the men and women who have served in uniform, and inspiring future generations to learn from that legacy; and Whereas, For five decades, the Museum has showcased historic aircraft, engines, cockpits, and artifacts spanning more than a century of flight at Selfridge Field, the second-oldest continually operating military airfield in the United States, which has played a critical role in American air power since 1917; and Whereas, Selfridge Air National Guard Base remains home to the 127th Wing and hosts numerous tenant units, supporting thousands of Michigan Air Guardsmen, citizen-airmen who carry out state and federal missions including homeland defense, emergency response, and disaster relief; and Whereas, The …
