A RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACH TROY SMITH FOR WINNING THE BATTLE OF THE TOMBIGBEE. WHEREAS, the Mississippi House of Representatives Softball Team clinched a well-deserved victory when they defeated members of the Alabama Legislature to win the second annual Battle of the Tombigbee in Birmingham, Alabama; and WHEREAS, striving to win with unparalleled motivation and ardent determination, the Mississippi House of Representatives Softball Team played their best, as their mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they first walked onto that red, dusty diamond, until they scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to break the tie; and WHEREAS, the matchup ended as a thrilling 16-11 victory over the Alabama team, with the proceeds from the game benefitting the Children's of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama; and WHEREAS, in addition to reigning supreme against the Alabama Legislature, the Mississippi House of Representatives Softball *HR43/R2010.1* H. R.
