A RESOLUTION COMMENDING RETIRED MASTER SERGEANT CLYDE MOORE ON HIS 24-YEAR MILITARY CAREER AND EXPRESSING GRATITUDE FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. WHEREAS, retired Master Sergeant Clyde Moore, an 87-year-old decorated Vietnam Veteran of Columbus, Mississippi, is a loyal American who honorably dedicated 24 years, four months and 14 days of his life to faithfully serve his country with distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and WHEREAS, born in the segregated South in 1938, Master Sergeant Moore was driven to enlist in the Air Force in 1954 in Columbus by claiming to be 18 years old, although he was not quite 16, to support his family, particularly his grandmother who played a significant role in his early life and lovingly encouraged him throughout his training at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona; and WHEREAS, during the Vietnam War, Master Sergeant Moore successfully completed three separate in-country tours, a rare feat only accomplished by a handful of airmen, beginning with his first tour in 1964 through 1965 when he was involved in the battle *HR43/R2746* H.
